Au Naturale Cosmetics is a vegan, cruelty free, and clean beauty company. I have previously tried some of their other products and I have been using samples of their creme stick foundation on and off for a while and finally felt compeled to buy the full size and really try it out.
First things first, I’ll give you a rundown of what I look for in a foundation and what skin type I am.
Skin Type: combination (mostly oily), breakout prone, ingredient sensitive.
Foundation Requirements: Natural finish, blends easily, moderate buildable coverage, doesn’t aggravate or cause breakouts (non comedogenic).
The Au Naturale creme stick foundation retails for $38 for 9ml. The packaging is your standard stick foundation tube with twist. They have many colors, but I would recommend going slightly darker than you think you need, as they seem to run lighter. I use the shade Marino currently, but will probably go darker for summer. I usually purchase the light medium shades for most brands.
Ingredients are listed as follows:
“Organic Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Wax, Organic Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender) Oil, Manihot Esculenta (Tapioca) Root Starch, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Mica.”
Benefits listed on site:
“Formulated without gluten, parabens, fillers, animal by-products, synthetic preservatives or toxins, our organic creme foundation is 100% natural, cruelty-free, vegan and made in the USA.”
I find that this applies best with a foundation brush. I use a flat top kabuki for the most flawless blending. I would recommend using moisturizer and an additional SPF under this as it offers no sun protection. For me, since my skin tends to be oilier, I find the consistency of this product to be perfect. It melts into my skin easily and doesn’t settle in fine lines. I do suspect because of its consistency it would work best over a facial oil if you have dry skin. With a brush I get good coverage that still looks natural. The coverage is buildable, and I would say this is a light to a natural medium coverage. You can also use the foundation to conceal spots. I like to wear it on the natural side so that my freckles are still relatively visible.
One of my favorite attributes of this foundation is how it wears. Whether I set with a powder of not it stays all day without wearing off (other than if I wear my glasses over it for long periods of time, I do notice the bridge of my nose wears off but that is typical for me). I like the way the finish looks by the end of the day, and I don’t have any flakes or patches that look uneven like with some stick foundations.

How My Skin Reacts:
My skin has actually improved since using this foundation. I find that I have less blemishes in places that foundations can irritate, and my overall skin health is better. I think the integrity of the ingredients is responsible for this. My skin is balanced when I wear this, and I am no longer afraid to use a foundation that contains oils!
Overall very impressed with this foundation, and think it is a great clean alternative to other stick foundations.
